Alumina suspension: MasterPrep and MicroPolish
The importance of alumina slurries as the sole polishing medium has declined over the past years due to the availability of economical diamond products and the better results they achieve. Also, because semi or fully automatic preparation equipment is more commonplace, there is a need for continual dosing. Alumina suspensions are suitable after diamond grinding or as final polish (0.05µm). An alternative to pre-dispersed alumina suspension is MicroPolish alumina powder. The powder is mixed with distilled water to obtain the required suspension. All alumina products are equally suitable for the polishing process of metals, composite materials, minerals and ceramic materials.
  
Deagglomerated Alumina: MicroPolish II
During the production process, alumina develops agglomerated particles. In the ideal case, these agglomerates are broken during polishing into single crystals. This does not always happen during processing of soft materials such as copper, aluminium or lead, because of the low pressure used during the preparation. As a result unwanted scratches often appear on the surface. With the deagglomerated alumina products, only single crystals are available and they exhibit excellent cutting characteristics. With MicroPolish II products, high surface flatness can be reached in shorter time.

   
Final polishing suspensions: MasterMet and MasterMet 2
These are final polishing products made of colloidal silica where high surface flatness can be obtained with metals, solder, composites coating layers. Particularly with tough or soft materials, the deformation layers are removed by the special action of these alkaline suspensions. The suspensions are used after diamond or alumina steps. These suspensions can also be used in combination with suitable etching agent for the chemical-mechanical polishing of difficult samples e.g. titanium.
    
MasterPolish and MasterPolish 2
MasterPolish suspensions are mixed oxide products for fine grinding and final polishing of ceramic materials, semiconductors, hard metals and composite materials with non-metallic components. The polishing effect takes place via a chemo-mechanical action, i.e. the polishing agent reacts on one hand with the surface of the sample and causes chemical erosion, on the other hand the oxide particles create mechanical erosion. The results are unusually high removal rates and a highly-polished, scratch and relief-free sample surface. MasterPolish is usually used undiluted and is particularly effective when using polishing cloths without nap such as TexMet cloths. For the final polish, it can be used with our regular oxide polish cloths.
