Information concerning REACH

REACH stands for the Regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. The REACH Regulation entered into force on 1st June 2007 to streamline and improve the former legislative framework for chemicals of the European Union (EU).

Buehler GmbH located in Düsseldorf, Germany, is a downstream user and importer according to REACH Regulation (EU) No. 1907/2006 (REACH). The products handled by Buehler GmbH are prepared products which are not required to be registered according to REACH regulations.
The time limit for pre-registration ended on 30.11.2008. In the mean time we have received declarations from all our suppliers that substances contained in products supplied to us have all been pre-registered or assurances that their suppliers have pre-registered ingredients. Product ingredients of over one ton which Buehler GmbH imports into the EU have been identified and pre-registered by an ITW company on behalf of Buehler, a Division of Illinois Tool Works Inc., Lake Bluff, USA. The same company will also be responsible for registration. Buehler GmbH has not needed to act itself in regard to pre-registration or registration. We can declare that our products will still be available for use in their specific applications and are fully covered in terms of REACH regulations. We have no plans to remove any products we offer due to REACH regulatory problems.

The ultimate registration process can take until 2018 (article 23) depending on quantities and rating in regard to health and environmental concerns. On the basis of this time limit no details can yet be given of registered ingredients used in products offered by Buehler GmbH. This applies especially in regard to information concerning registration numbers and disposition of individual products.
The European Chemicals Agency has published a substance list (SVHC, substances of very high concern) under the directive of article 58 (1, 10) REACH regulations (last actualization: 20.06.2011).
Two of our products contains a substance that appears on the actual substance list:

EpoHeat Resin contains Diisobutyl phtalate, CAS 84-69-5
CoolMet 2 contains Boric acid, CAS 10043-35-3 (no longer available)

Buehler will honour its obligations of data sharing in the framework of the supply chain. The intended purpose of ingredients and raw materials will be available in the information supplied. Our MSDS sheets are constantly being checked, revised and updated.
